Welcome to the Wagga Wagga branch of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia.

The Wagga Wagga Branch of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia was founded in 1988 in reponse to the introduction of tough new firearms legislation by the Unsworth Labour government. From humble beginnings the branch has grown into one of the most progressive branches in NSW which now caters for the needs of over 1000 members as well as many visitors from other clubs and hunters wishing to prepare a rifle for an upcomming hunt.

The inaugural meeting was held on      . In 2003, the committee of the day purchased the 40 hectares of land on which our range is located to ensure that our branch would secure into the future. The concrete for the benchrest range was laid in 1991

The facility consists of:

·a large clubhouse with solar power, toilets and showers.
·a 20 position benchrest range, out to 500 metres.
·an 8 position field rifle / pistol  range out to 200 metres.
·an 8 position rimfire metallic silhouette range.
·a 5 stand shotgun range.

Regular competition is held in the following disciplines, Shotgun, Black powder, Rimfire and Centrefire Field Rifle, Military Rifle, Rimfire Metallic Silhouette, Lever Action, Benchrest Group, Benchrest Score, Fly out to 500 metres and Pistol.

There are two major two day competitions each year and club competition shoots most Sundays and some Saturdays. While we have a small group of target shooters who travel to major competitions the majority who take part in the club competitions do so with their hunting rifles. For this reason, the club competitions are structured so that hunting rifles are competitive.
